Commenting on McLaren's announcement that it will switch from Bridgestone to Michelin for the 2002 season, Jordan's Director of Business Affairs, Ian Phillips, said, "This is a very brave move. In a tyre war with two such great companies such as Bridgestone and Michelin the key to success is establishing a close working relationship. After four years of success with Bridgestone to change to Michelin, who have already built up a solid and winning platform with Williams, is either very bold or purely acceptance that they cannot beat Ferrari and Michael Schumacher using the same equipment."
