The sporting worlds of the Olympics and Formula One will meet this weekend when International Olympic Committee Medical Director, Patrick Schamasch, will visit Formula One's Professor Syd Watkins at the British Grand Prix. The two doctors will meet to discuss areas where they might be able to exchange experiences and expertise - such as the prevention of sports injuries, for example.
Speaking about his visit to Silvertone to see Professor Watkins, Dr Schamasch said, "Formula One is a very different area of sport from the sports which make up the Olympic programme, but I believe the work done by Professor Watkins to improve safety standards and prevent sporting injuries, will be a very interesting area to study. I am sure we will have a very productive meeting which may well highlight areas where we can share information and expertise in the future."
