Arrows future still in the balance

The future of the Arrows team has been in doubt for some time now and matters reached a head after the Belgian Grand Prix. Although its trucks and motorhome appeared in the Spa paddock, its cars never ventured out onto the track and the team packed up and left on Friday evening. F1 rules demand that teams take part in all rounds of the World Championship. Arrows is claiming force majeure on the grounds that legal wrangles over finding a potential new backer have prevented it from running its cars. However, governing body the FIA asked the team for a written explanation of its actions, or lack of actions to be more precise. This morning, FIA issued the following statement:

"As has been widely reported, the FIA requested a written explanation from the Orange Arrows team regarding some of its recent actions in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The FIA has received a communication from Arrows which it is now studying. Any further comment would be inappropriate at this stage."
