Toyota driver Mika Salo was forced to skip today's practice sessions due to severe food poisoning. The Finn was unable to drive his car due to cramps and other nasty side effects of the bug, and was described by one senior team member as being 'in a bad way'.
Unlike the majority of other sports, Formula One competitors usually shrug off minor injuries or sickness to participate in every round of the World Championship, so Salo's absence is a rare occurence. A doctor is attending to him and the team hopes that he will be sufficiently recovered to compete in tomorrow morning's practice ahead of the all important qualifying.
