Jordan staff watch England victory

The staff at Jordan's headquarters in Silverstone and nearby Wind Tunnel in Brackley turned out in force to witness England defeat Argentina 1-0 in today's important World Cup tie.  The Boardroom at the team's Silverstone headquarters was packed, as was the canteen inside the Brackley facility, as the team's English supporters watched team captain David Beckham score the only goal of the match - a penalty shortly before half time.

A tense atmosphere was reported, particularly during the second half of the match when England had to fend off a determined assault from Argentina's strikers.

Race team colleagues watched the match live in the Paddock in Montreal, in between preparing for this morning's first practice session for Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix.

The team's footballing interest will next turn to Ireland's match against Saudia Arabia, with Eddie Jordan and the team's Irish members hoping that a victory will take their team through to the next round.

In the meantime all attention is focussed on Montreal where DHL Jordan Honda is hoping to score World Championship points for the third race in succession.  Director of Race and Test Engineering Gary Anderson admits that he has quite a good feeling about this weekend, Giancarlo Fisichella having previously achieved a podium for Jordan here in 1997, while Takuma Sato is determined to score his first points of the season.
