Jean Alesi, who ended his illustrious Formula One racing career at the 2001 Japanese Grand Prix whilst racing for the Benson and Hedges Jordan Honda team, attended the TF1 (French television broadcaster) studios in Boulogne, France, yesterday afternoon along with 80 French media and guests, for a presentation of a 50 minute documentary looking back at Jean’s 2001, and final, season in F1.
The documentary has been filmed during the entire year, and includes insightful and exclusive footage of Jean’s racing and Formula 1 lifestyle, as well as scenes from his private life away from the fast lane with his family and at home.
Jean’s final week in Formula 1 with Jordan is a significant part of the programme, showing the emotional scenes witnessed as the sport’s most loved driver made his final exit from the F1 stage.
The private showing was followed by a drinks reception, where journalists and guests were able to speak with Jean about his Formula 1 career, spanning and incredible 201 Grand Prix race starts over thirteen years.
Commenting on the documentary, Jean said, “I am very excited, but also very honoured, to have an entire programme that focuses on me. The TF1 crew have done a fabulous job and achieved a great end result. This documentary is very special to me and although it only details my last season in F1, it was probably one of my most emotional and memorable years.”
The programme is provisionally due to be broadcast on Sunday 30th December, from 11-12am on TF1.
