After a very busy weekend, the Jordan factory is beginning to return to normal today. Fans and staff were treated to a host of attractions, events and hospitality over the Grand Prix weekend with a Jordan staff and family day and the first ever 'Jordan Village' for F1 fans.
The Jordan Village, organised by Jordan Brand Ltd, proved to be a great success, providing the sale of memorabilia, team clothing, and autographed items. It also was the meeting point for Club Jordan members, and drew quite a crowd over the weekend. Fans relished the chance to buy original Formula One car parts, and sample the Jordan drinks EJ-10 and V-10 during their visit to the village, which also featured the Virgin Mobile roadshow.
In addition, Jordan’s Sports and Social club organised an event for staff and their families on race day with a marquee on the factory lawn. The families enjoyed a carnival atmosphere, with a bouncy castle, children’s play area and F1 simulator, before settling down to watch the Grand Prix action live on large TV screens. Jordan’s sponsors kindly donated raffle prizes for the event, such as a Grundig TV, DVD player and Discmans, an HP digital camera, two Virgin mobile phones with air time and tickets to the V2002 concert, a Brother fax machine and Laurent-Perrier champagne.
Eddie Jordan, Giancarlo Fisichella and Takuma Sato enjoyed taking time out of their hectic schedules at the circuit to visit the Jordan Village in order to meet fans and sign autographs. They were met with an awesome response, as enthusiastic race-goers were thrilled with the chance to get autographs and meet their heroes. Eddie Jordan and Takuma Sato also returned to the factory after the Grand Prix on Sunday to enjoy the atmosphere and relax with the families, and there they signed more autographs and posed for photographs with team members and their families.
A very busy weekend for all involved in the planning and organisation, but well worth it for the opportunity to provide fans with unrivalled up-close access to the team and drivers!
