The DHL Jordan Honda team had a positive start to the Austrian Grand Prix weekend with Giancarlo Fisichella and Takuma Sato 5th and 6th in first practice. Trying two development front wings, the drivers set competitive times throughout, chasing the Ferraris and their Ferrari-engined partners at Sauber.
Neither driver reported any problems and were positive about the new front wing options. Fisichella had a slight moment at the end of the session when Rubens Barrichello's Ferrari went off the track, covering the circuit in dirt which caused the Jordan Honda to run wide and onto the grass, but it was undamaged and continued.
Ferrari continued their domination of the season to date with Michael Schumacher quickest ahead of his team mate Rubens Barrichello, Felipe Massa fastest of the Saubers with Nick Heidfeld next up, the German celebrating his 25th birthday today.
