In Memoriam - Martin Whittingham

Members of the DHL Jordan Honda team will wear black ribbons on their race shirts on Sunday in memory of Martin Whittingham, team physio and employee of vielife. It was with great sadness that the team heard the news that Martin, aged 40, was killed in a car accident near his home last weekend.

Martin looked after the physiotherapy and medical programmes of Giancarlo Fisichella and Takuma Sato during test sessions and races and he assisted with the wellbeing of the whole team while on the road.  His impressive and highly-qualified career spans appointments with the Royal Army Medical Corps, the British Bobsleigh team, the 1994 Winter Olympics at Lillehammer and a host of individual professional athletes in sports ranging from badminton to golf.

Everyone on the team who knew Martin remembers him for his dedication to his assignment with Jordan Grand Prix in 2002 and also his love for his wife, Alison, and two young daughters Soán & Bryony, on whom he doted and from whom he often found it difficult to be separated.
