Malaysian Grand Prix - Free Practice

DHL Jordan Honda drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Takuma Sato completed a day of consistent, untroubled running in their Jordan Honda EJ12s today at the Sepang Circuit, Malaysia.  Both one hour sessions of the Friday Free Practice went without a hitch – with Fisichella completing a total of 39 laps, Sato 44 laps.

“We did a good day’s work today.  The car isn’t perfect but we have gathered a large amount of data to work on during the night so I am quite confident we can make some improvements for tomorrow.  The main areas we need to improve are the oversteering into the entry of the corners and understeer mid-corner.  The track was very slippery indeed, and at the end of the session I think I picked up a lot of dirt which lost me a lot of time on the lap times I was posting.”

“I am very happy with how today went because the car worked without any problems at all which meant I was able to complete 44 laps and really get to know the circuit well.  We decided to do long race simulation runs, which was good not only for the car, but also for me to test how physically demanding the race will be.  Today was the first time I have driven a racing car under these conditions and I am very pleased I decided to go for a week’s training in Malaysia to acclimatise myself – it was a good decision!”

The T car is set up for Takuma Sato for tomorrow’s qualifying.
