The Nurburgring, which hosts this weekend’s European Grand Prix, celebrates its 75th birthday this year. The current track held its first F1 event back in 1984, although the historic and daunting 22.5 kilometre old circuit is still open to anyone who wants to drive round it and marvel at the heroics required in a now bygone era. This year, the circuit has undergone major modifications to the first section, with a tight hairpin leading into a twisty 'stadium section'. Average speeds will be slower because of these changes.
