The FIA announced today that Silverstone Circuit has succeeded in building new access routes in time for this year’s British Grand Prix, to be held on 7th July. The sport’s governing body has therefore handed back the US$ 5 million guarantee to the RACMSA and to race promoter Octagon Motorsports.
FIA President Max Mosley, described the news as "a victory for motor sport enthusiasts in Great Britain". Of course, the acid test will come next month with the first chance to see if it is indeed easier for the crowds to get in and out of the Northamptonshire circuit.
