Former Jordan driver Ralph Firman is set to appear at the wheel of an A1 Grand Prix car in Jerez next week. An experienced racing driver, Firman will share testing duties of the Lola chassis, Zytek V8 engine with the series General Manager, Stephen Watson. The four day Jerez test will commence next week with Stephen driving on Monday (21 August) and Ralph having a seat fitting on Tuesday, joining Stephen on the 25th, 26th and 27th August to complete the all important hot weather test.
A1 Grand Prix is a new series designed to race 30 identical single-seater racing cars during motor racing's off season starting in September 2005 and is the brain child of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Hasher Maktoum al Maktoum, a member of the Ruling Family of Dubai.
Ralph said "The chance to be involved with the A1 Grand Prix project was a great opportunity for me. Stephen has brought me up to date with the work he has done so far, and now I can't wait to get behind the wheel of the car in Jerez. It has all the right ingredients to be a very successful racing car and I am sure will be fun to drive."
