Jordan watches England's defeat

The staff of Jordan watched England's World Cup hopes dashed when they were beaten 2-1 by Brazil.  Enthusiasm at the team's Silverstone and Brackley bases was matched by that shown at the Nurburgring where the traditional Friday morning British Press Breakfast saw both motorhomes packed with journalists and team members.

Also joining the crowd were British models Michelle Clack and Charlie O'Neal who later posed in bikinis, draped with England flags, for a photo shoot with team boss Eddie Jordan and drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Takuma Sato at the front of the team garage.

For all the enthusiasm and support, however, Jordan's personnel and guests watched as Michael Owen scored for England only for Brazil's Rivaldo to equalise shortly before half time, and then Ronaldinho put the south Americans ahead to take a lead they would never lose.  Even when Ronaldinho was shown the red card and sent off for stamping on an England player, Brazil were able to fend off England's attacks and hold on to the flag.

On Sunday Jordan's Irish team personnel had watched Ireland get knocked out of the tournament, but only after they took Spain to a 1-1 draw and were beaten on penalties.  Although Jordan's staff now have no obvious team to follow for the remainder of the tournament, the management and staff of team's title sponsor Deutsche Post World Net will no doubt be hoping that Germany progress to the semi-finals by winning their match against the USA this afternoon.

Meanwhile MasterCard International, an official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup but also a co-sponsor of Jordan since 1997, will be preparing for a busy final week of the tournament which is the focal point of MasterCard's sponsorship programmes in 2002.  Information on MasterCard's World Cup activities can be found at www.mastercard.com
