Confident Jordan thanks staff

Eddie Jordan thanked his staff for their hard work in recent months when he addressed all two hundred employees inside the team's Silverstone headquarters this morning.  The company's founder and Chief Executive was in bullish mood as the team prepares for tomorrow's test at Silverstone and readies its cars for the trip to Australia this weekend.

"We have produced a great looking new car and, with the support of loyal sponsors such as Benson and Hedges, plus the new involvement of Ford Cosworth with a competitive engine, we can look forward to the start of the season with some confidence," he said.

"In Giancarlo (Fisichella) we have one of the best drivers in Formula One, while Ralph (Firman) has already proven himself to be extremely mature in his approach.   Our goal is to put Jordan back up there as a major threat - let's not forget that only four constructors currently in Formula One have won Grands Prix in the past five years, and we are one of them.  And with the new rules bringing about a degree of unpredictability I believe we are one of the teams that can benefit - we are great racers."

Concerning the winter of rumour, speculation and negative comparisons between Jordan and debt-ridden teams which have been the subject of much debate, he had this to say:

"We are a profitable team, prudently managed, careful with our costs, with many loyal backers inside and outside of Formula One, and we have been able to weather the storm of economic downturn better than most - we can look forward to the full season with considerable pride in ourselves, our sponsors and partners, and our future.  It's time to go racing, produce the very best results we can and remind people that Jordan is a team to be reckoned with."
