Formula One teams competing in this weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix have been advised to take precautions to safeguard against possible muggings. Following several incidents during the 2001 Grand Prix weekend in Sao Paulo, including robberies at ATM machines, teams have been told by the authorities that it would be advisable to change out of team uniforms before leaving the Interlagos Circuit.
Commenting on the advise, Jordan's Team Manager, Tim Edwards said, "Changing out of team clothing is a sensible precaution which we will be taking to avoid unwanted attention. I think, however, that it is important to keep things in perspective. Although there were some nasty incidents here last year, these tend to be isolated events. The Brazilian people could not be more friendly and welcoming, and as a team we very much enjoy visiting the country, and especially having a good night out at the local churrascuria restaurants."
