Big changes for Monaco

The Monaco circuit has done its best to adapt to the demands of the modern F1 era, but it lags behind other circuits especially in terms of its pit and paddock facilities. It actually fails to meet  FIA criteria on these issues, but the governing body has always waived the rules to keep the most famous race on the calendar. But now, radical new plans have been announced.

By 2004, there will be a new pits complex, which will face out towards the sea. The extra space will be created by filling in part of the existing harbour. Other modifications are also planned in a programme that runs through to 2006.
