This season F1 Racing's esteemed photographer, Rip, completed his most ambitious project to date, GRANDPRIXGALLERY, a collaboration with dbox, comprising a display of twenty-seven large-scale portraits of the world's greatest Formula One drivers.
By positioning and composing the subjects within a complex digital landscape, the images evoke the 'superhuman' qualities of motorsport's drivers and technology. "The photography is all about change, editing and re-composition. It is a continual process, adding layer upon layer of light, colour and texture... but the Formula One portraiture is also about continual movement, speed, and heat. These works are the result of a decision making process that reflects and acknowledges the intense concentration involved in Formula One."
GRANDPRIXGALLERY is a unique and powerful series of images in any context and prints of the stunningly majestic 2.5m x 1m portraits of Jarno Trulli and Heinz-Harald Frentzen are currently on display in the Jordan Grand Prix factory headquarters. Rip's range of limited edition prints are currently on sale and can be viewed with more information at http://www.grandprixgallery.com.
