Ralf Schumacher has qualified on pole position for tomorrow's Monaco Grand Prix, the German beating Kimi Raikkonen's McLaren by 0.036s to take the top spot. With Juan Pablo Montoya third it was a good day for Williams but disappointing for Ferrari, Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello only fifth and seventh.
Jordan Ford qualified 12th and 16th, Giancarlo Fisichella just under half a second quicker than Ralph Firman. Neither driver suffered any obvious problem during their runs, though both had been hoping for higher positions after a promising performance on Thursday.
Jarno Trulli and Fernando Alonso qualified 4th and 8th for Renault, Trulli the fastest of all over the last sector. David Coulthard could manage only the 6th fastest time, the winner of last year's Monaco race disappointed not to be better positioned, while Mark Webber and Christiano da Matta completed the top ten.
