Impatient F1 fans might dislike the three-week break between the the German and Hungarian Grands Prix because they have to wait so long to see the next race in the F1 show. But for F1 personnel it is a welcome break which allows a little bit more breathing space between races than is usual, particularly as there is a testing ban throughout August, so no teams are allowed to test their car developments.
Many of the travelling staff from Jordan will have a week to themselves to recharge their batteries by relaxing, getting away for a break, spending time with their families or catching up on the home DIY before they come back to the factory to get busy preparing for Hungary.
The testing ban allows the drivers time out too, and Giancarlo Fisichella plans to take a holiday in Sardinia with his family, although an F1 driver's 'holiday' still includes a good deal of physical training and work-outs, so Giancarlo will take his personal trainer, Marco Rustichelli, along with him. Meanwhile, Takuma Sato hopes to spend a week sightseeing in Europe before coming back to fitness training and relaxing at home in Marlow.
