Busy Thursday at Hockenheim

With practice for the German GP getting underway tomorrow, the Jordan Ford garage is the scene of all the usual last minute preparation. Here in Hockenheim, the job list is slightly longer than usual as, for the first time this season, the team will be running a third car in Friday morning’s two hours of free testing.

Hungarian F3000 driver, Zsolt Baumgartner will be at the wheel, alongside regulars, Giancarlo Fisichella and Ralf Firman. Bringing the third car into play will be a useful source of additional data for the team tech heads, especially on the tyre front, as Baumgartner will concentrate on doing long runs on the different types of Bridgestones on offer. The third car option also provides an opportunity for some Jordan Ford engineers to gain experience of working on a car in the pressure cooker environment of a grand prix weekend. Baumgartner will also drive a third car on the Friday morning at his home track, the Hungaroring in three weeks times.
