F1Jordan.com - breaking the mould
The Jordan Honda web site is unique in offering up-to-the-minute information about Jordan Grand Prix and is the leading site for Formula One news. Using the latest in web technology, it ensures all Jordan and Formula One fans are aware of new developments as they happen.
The site delivers news and sport feeds from BBC On-Line, as well as the ability to buy Grand Prix tickets online to your favourite venues through the partnership with Grand Prix Tickets. The e-commerce facility sells not only clothing merchandise, but also race team memorabilia, Club Jordan membership, J Magazine subscriptions and Jordan Licensed products such as the new Carbon Fibre racing bicycle. The site also features links to every other Formula One team, driver and major F1 news site and you can even buy photographs from the world of F1 via Totalposter.com.
Developed by KPMG Consulting using the Microsoft .NET framework, the site is the most user friendly and functionally rich in F1. Featuring the latest in intuitive web-based design from Bang New Media, the site is focused on the demands of the F1 fan and reflects the dynamism of the Jordan brand. Jordan chose Tridion’s Web content management software, Tridion DialogServer, to publish new information and breaking news live on the site in double quick time to ensure Jordan is always ahead of the field.
The site is managed by Attenda, Europe's leading provider of outsourced operations for Microsoft .NET infrastructure. Attenda ensures that the site is live, fully functional and highly secure. Attenda's highly skilled support staff are available to resolve any issues on the site 24x7.
Making it happen
By using the highly-flexible Microsoft .NET framework, KPMG Consulting were able to get the site up and running by deploying its Rapid Delivery Framework – a methodology for deployment of .NET solutions. The quick implementation was supported by the rapid installation of Tridion DialogServer.
So how does it work? A core element to the site is Microsoft Commerce Server which provides the site functionality. This integrates complex algorithms set by Jordan and works with Tridion’s DialogServer to deliver more personalised content that reflect the users preferences.
Achieving Pole Position
From drawing board to launch in just over two months, the site debuted at the 2001 Japanese Grand Prix. The site has scored two coups – the first F1 site to offer Grand Prix tickets online through its partner Grand Prix Tickets and the first to deliver content via BBC On-Line news and sports feeds.
