Jaguar Racing insists that they have a binding contract with Adrian Newey for his services when his contract expires with McLaren in 2002, with McLaren in turn saying that they have a contract with Newey beyond the term of his existing contract.

Following this, McLaren issued a statement: 'Jaguar Racing this afternoon obtained an injunction at the High Court in London on behalf of Ford Motor Company and Jaguar Racing Limited against McLaren International Limited. The terms of the injunction restrain McLaren International from entering into or continuing any contract of employment with Adrian Newey post 31 July 2002.'
