An accident in Friday's free practice session, coming only two weeks after a heavy crash in the Monaco Grand Prix has resulted in Frentzen opting to rest this weekend.

The German felt unable to complete the test in France last week, complaining of headaches and dizziness. He underwent tests which showed he was uninjured, but yesterday's crash left him feeling not 100% fit for Sunday's race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. He therefore took the decision to withdraw and will return on Saturday afternoon to Monaco to rest.

Zonta, who raced for BAR Honda in 1999 and 2000, will race again for the first time since the Malaysian Grand Prix last October. He worked late into Friday night with the Jordan engineers to gain a full briefing on the EJ11's set up for the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Zonta, who has played a key role in the testing and development of the Jordan Honda EJ11 all year, worked with Jarno Trulli last week in testing in Magny Cours on set up for the Canadian Grand Prix. 'I am sure it is a big disappointment for Heinz-Harald that he cannot race. I really hope to do a good job for him and the Jordan team. In many ways this is more tough than competing in your first Grand Prix, but I must say I am very excited about getting into the car again to race!' Frentzen commented, 'I wish Ricardo and the team all the best for the rest of the weekend and look forward to being back in the driving seat in Nurburgring.'
