A Bookmaker's Preview Of The British GP Silverstone is a circuit that features strongly on the Jordan calendar as the team has finished in the points there for the last five years.
It's no surprise therefore, that Jarno Trulli and teammate Heinz-Harald Frentzen head the bookies list at 6/4 and 2/1 respectively to gain another points finish. Whilst 6/4 about the Italian may seem rather short, there are worse bets available to F1 fans and Eurobet recommends a small investment on Trulli following up his sixth place at Silverstone last year with a performance of at least equal merit this weekend.
You can bet on Jordan -- and other teams -- through Jordan's official e-betting partner, Eurobet. If you are a UK resident, go to www.eurobet.co.uk. If not, place your bets through Eurobet's international site, www.eurobet.com.
Championship leader Michael Schumacher last triumphed at Silverstone in 1998 and the German is odds on at 4/5 to repeat that success. In the two years since that success McLaren's David Coulthard has been the dominant driver with back-to-back victories, and the Scot is 5/1 to complete a hat-trick of home wins.
Separating the top two in the championship standings in the betting for Sunday's race is Ralf Schumacher, a 3/1 chance to win his first British Grand Prix. Whilst it is difficult to oppose the reigning Champion, and even more so to dismiss his younger brother, the 5/1 about Coulthard represents the best value. The combination of a home crowd and the knowledge that victory is a must if he is to maintain a challenge on Schumacher, could well see him score on Sunday.
Ferrari's second driver, Rubens Barrichello, justified the opinion of this column that he would do well in France with a podium finish that rewarded followers at just over 3/1. The Brazilian gained pole position at Silverstone last year – a repeat of which is on offer at 20/1 – although his British race record does not inspire massive confidence and at 16/1 he can be ignored this time around. Another driver who will have few punters following him is Mika Hakkinen; the Finn's miserable season continued at Magny Cours as his race finished on the start grid. The two-time champion is the bookies favourite for one market however, it's 6/1 that he will be the first driver interviewed live on ITV during Sunday's race!!
