Celebrity Guest Gets Hands On
Benson and Hedges Jordan Honda welcomes a celebrity addition to the team, commencing at the Austrian Grand Prix this coming weekend, as UK television star, Ross Kemp joins Jordan as a 'truckie' for three race weekends. His apprenticeship with Jordan is being filmed by ITV for a special television feature.
Not satisfied with only limited involvement, Ross eagerly began his tasks before arriving in the Austrian Alps, as he joined members of the Jordan race team last Sunday, 6 May, in order to contribute to the 'pack up' of all the equipment and three EJ11 cars for the Austrian Grand Prix.
'Being at the factory and helping the boys pack everything into the trucks was great,' commented Ross, 'but a real eye opener as well. I really don't think people understand how much of a complex, logistical operation it is. There is a huge quantity of equipment that needs to be loaded and transported and preparation for a race is happening weeks in advance. I am really looking forward to being with the Jordan team. They are a great bunch of people and I can't wait to get stuck in to my role as a truckie.'
While still maintaining his current busy television filming commitments, Ross has scheduled his work with the team to continue in Magny Cours and conclude at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in July, where his F1 training and experience will culminate in Ross playing a part in Jordan's 23-man pit stop crew during the race.
ITV will film Ross's experiences with the team over the three weekends, with fans able to keep up to date from an on-going report of his progress during ITV's build up to races and qualifying.
Powerboat Racing
Jordan and Honda joined forces on the water over the weekend of 5/6 May in Teignmouth, Devon, when the Jordan Honda EJ-10 powerboat, sponsored by Jordan's energy drink, EJ-10, raced in the Honda Formula Four Stroke Series.
Heinz-Harald Frentzen on the Austrian Grand Prix
'I really like Austria. The food is great and I have a lot of supporters there. The A1 Ring isn't the challenging circuit that it used to be. There are only three kerbs where you can really go for it, but apart from that, there are many slow corners which upset the rhythm for drivers.'
Jarno Trulli on the Austrian Grand Prix
'I have strong memories, good and bad, of Austria. 1997 was my debut season and I was leading the Grand Prix when I stood in for Panis at Prost, until the engine failed.
'Austria is a beautiful place and I think we can do well there. In the past I have experienced problems during the race so hopefully this year we can get it right. It's a twisty track that is hard on the brakes.'

Latest Testing Information
Benson and Hedges Jordan Honda third driver Ricardo Zonta, commenced a three day test at Silverstone, following the Spanish Grand Prix. The session focused on tyre evaluation, chassis set-up and aerodynamics.
Jarno Trulli joined the Brazilian on the second day, although after a dry morning, standing water on the track made running impossible for three hours in the middle of the day. Trulli concentrated on dry and then wet set-up for Austria with tyre testing while Zonta evaluated development parts.
The final day was dry enabling the team to achieve a very productive day and maximum mileage required. Both drivers ran similar programmes, including tyre evaluation, a range of suspension geometries and testing of evolution engines for Honda.
Circuit Information
A1 Ring, 8724 Spielberg, Austria
Circuit length: 4.326 km
Race distance: 4.326 km x 71 laps = 307.146 km
A1 Ring is set in fabulous scenery, nestled within the Styrian mountains of the Austrian Alps. Modifications to the track in time for the 1997 Grand Prix made it much slower, with the now twisty circuit providing very few places to overtake. This medium-high downforce track has an unusual uphill straight into the first corner, and the smooth surface can promote understeer due to a lack of front end grip.
