Saturday Practice - Belgium Grand Prix 2000 Season An encouraging morning for Jordan Grand Prix as Jarno Trulli and Heinz-Harald Frentzen were third and fourth fastest during final preparations for qualifying this afternoon.
'I think we did quite a good job,' said Trulli. 'We made several changes to the car this morning and it felt much better during the second of the two sessions. We eventually went in a completely different direction with the set-up and I set my best time when verifying that on my last run. I'm pretty happy but, as usual, it's going to be close. We don't know just what the full capabilities of, say, Coulthard (McLaren) and Schumacher (Ferrari) are at the moment.'
Frentzen was second fastest in the first session and was about to improve on that in the second 45-minute period when the engine began to hesitate on his first lap out of the pits. With the power diminishing, Frentzen pulled over and stopped rather than try to complete the 4.33-mile lap.
'Until then,' said Frentzen, 'the car felt fine. The balance was good and I'd had no problems. We won't know what the trouble was exactly until the car is returned to the pits.'
Mika Hakkinen (McLaren) was fastest by three tenths of a second from the Williams of Jenson Button. Michael Schumacher was seventh fastest and Coulthard sixth after the McLaren driver had lost 30 minutes this morning with an unscheduled engine change.
