Saturday Practice - Italian Grand Prix 2000 Season Jordan Grand Prix had a troubled morning. Heinz-Harald Frentzen spun off after just seven laps and took no further part while his car was repaired. Hydraulics problems caused Jarno Trulli to miss nearly all of the first 45-minute session.
'The session was a disaster,' said Frentzen. 'I lost control when going through Parabolica and spun off. We had started to run a qualifying set-up but the balance of the car wasn't perfect. We have some experience of the track plus the information we have from testing but, even so, I did not get the chance to run with new tyres. So, it's not a particularly nice situation going into qualifying like this.'
Frentzen was 19th fastest but Trulli's problems meant he was not much better off in 12th place.
'I only had about two laps first thing this morning before there was a problem with the engine electronics,' said Trulli. 'Then I had about 20 minutes in the second session before we found that the problem was actually being caused by the hydraulics. It has made things very difficult because
we don't really know where we are when it comes to having the best set-up for qualifying. We will have to rely on our experience at Monza; normally, Jordan is very competitive here so we'll just have to wait and see how it works out.'
The Jordan drivers completed a total of just 18 laps between them. Michael Schumacher, fastest this morning, completed 31 laps for Ferrari. Team-mate Rubens Barrichello set third fastest time to split the McLarens of Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard. None of the top four drivers had any major problems.
