Sunday Warmup - American Grand Prix 2000 Season The 30-minute warm-up was run on a track which remained wet in parts from overnight rain. Jordan Grand Prix concentrated on establishing the performance of wet-weather tyres as Jarno Trulli and Heinz-Harald Frentzen set 5th and 12th fastest times.
'The warm-up was all about finding out how the wet-weather tyres worked here,' said Trevor Foster, Managing Director, Jordan Grand Prix. 'The main problem was that even though the banking and the long straight had dried, the twisting infield section was still wet. Even though you would not normally run wet tyres in such predominantly dry conditions, the infield was so slippery that we found there was nothing to be gained from running grooved slicks. That was the sort of thing we were able to discover in an otherwise routine session in which neither driver had any problems.'
