Jordan Mugen-Honda EJ10
The Jordan Mugen-Honda EJ10, based on the work and concepts of Jordan's most successful car to date - the Jordan Mugen-Honda 199 - is a notable step forward from its predecessor. This is due primarily to the re-structuring of working practices introduced to the drawing office in 1998 becoming fully operational for the design of this year's car. The result has been more efficient use of expertise and resources, with perhaps the most notable benefit being that work on the EJ10 began three months earlier than it did for the 1999 car.

Attention to detail and time spent in the design of the 2,000 parts which go to make up the car have been far greater than in previous years, resulting in an impressive change to the overall package. The step forward made this year is far greater than between 1998 and 1999.

The largest development comes in the car's aerodynamics, a result of a 50% increase of time spent in the wind tunnel and a 30% increase in aerodynamic personnel.

The mechanical design and packaging has also been optimised by the allocation of greater resources and longer lead times to the final design. More specifically, the front suspension has a totally new layout, as does the gearbox, which is also significantly lighter. More weight saving improvements have been made to the majority of the car's parts and the performance parameters are much improved.

The Jordan Mugen-Honda EJ10 is named after Jordan Grand Prix's founder and Chief Executive, Eddie Jordan and in celebration of Jordan's 10th year in Formula One. Jordan entered the sport in 1991 with the Jordan 191. The new naming system for the Jordan car will now run in sequence, to become the EJ11 in 2001.
