Simon Phillips
Head of Aerodynamics
After graduating as an Aeronautical Engineer from the University of Bath, England, Phillips worked at British Aerospace as an aerodynamicist and software developer. Here he was involved in aerodynamic design for the Airbus aircraft, and developed new Computational Fluid Dynamics techniques (CFD) for use across the company. In 1996 he joined Jordan, and allowed the team to become early adopters of CFD technology in F1, which was key to the continued improvement in the aerodynamic performance of the car during this period. Since joining the team, he has been heavily involved in the aerodynamic development of the car, and has pioneered many of the technologies still in use within the team today.
He became Head of Aerodynamics at Jordan in December 2004 and is now responsible for the aerodynamic development of the car.
