Sabelt was founded in 1972 by Piero and Giorgio Marsiaj and has become one of the most important suppliers of car seat belts in Italy as well as the world leader of racing harness production. Sabelt has extended its division to include products for children, becoming Europe’s premier manufacturer of fastenings for child restraint systems.
The racing harnesses became the benchmark for professional drivers on the F1 circuit and in the WRC and now are acknowledged as the undisputed leaders in the world. Sabelt is supplier of the most important motor sport teams.
In 1974, Sabelt started collaboration with Ferrari F1 team by supplying racing harnesses. In 1990, Sabelt became the Official supplier for the Ferrari F1 team by supplying them with shoes, overalls, gloves for drivers and mechanics. Sabelt’s competitive division later expanded in October 1998 with the production of a whole range of FIA approved racing accessories.
The technical quality and craftsmanship of Sabelt has led the company to the creation of a new fashion division. The shoes designed for and worn by Eddie Irvine and Rubens Barrichello in the F1 GP have now become the "De Ville" and "Weekend" styles.
